Happy Birthday to the amazing BOY!

November 21, 2013

Oh my goodness…our boy is really SEVEN today! Say it isn’t so.

Yes. We have ice cream for breakfast. It’s a tradition friends passed along to us many, many years ago and it stuck. We all love it.

Anna wasn’t able to celebrate throughout the day so she gladly obliged the early breakfast and gifts. Michael was thrilled with the supplies and promise to teach him how to tie a survival bracelet. COOL sis!

Papa was able to skype from Wyoming over breakfast so more gifts were given. Thankfully Grana was able to be here in person (still job hunting so keep sending prayers and good vibes for something to come through quickly)! Michael was so excited to have Under Armour in that Nintendo gift bag! This boy loves his hoodies and his compression shirts and is more particular about his clothes than our girls. This was an awesome surprise.

Thankfully Daddy has always been able to take a vacation day for each of our birthdays. Today, we celebrated Michael and his birthday at the World of Coke.

Everyone had been, but me. It was really very cool!

I love the Polar Bear marketing. It doesn’t quite beat the love of the Chick-fil-a cow, but the polar bear seriously makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

This little girl is such a trooper…teething and all.

She thought she needed some soda too! I must admit that I wish we had a soda fountain shop nearby. FUN! (Don’t mind the 2-year-old in the background about to get in trouble for climbing on the counter.)

We were told that the photo of Mr. Pemberton in the background of this picture, is the only photograph known to exist of him. The statue was likened after that photo. He was only 55 when he died. He sold the company two years after creating the recipe and died within months of selling the company. He never knew the legacy that has become Coca-Cola.

Of course the tasting room is a huge highlight of the museum.

Everyone of course has their favorites. Nate and I still love our American colas, Mr. Pibb and Cherry Vanilla Pibb to be exact. Katie loves the Blue Fanta. It was interesting to me to realize that I loved ALL the African sodas but none from Latin America.

Nate & Michael were smitten by the lemon pucker from England.

The little stinker pants thought he was going to be funny and get everyone to try the Beverely soda…by the way it’s no longer on the market. Oh. My. Goodness. AWFUL just really isn’t a strong enough description. Nate & I both had to wash our mouths. Thankfully, American Sprite was nearby as a palatte cleanser. I knew to have a glass ready to hand to him quickly. YUCK!!

Okay, so I will fully admit I had this great vision of an Atlanta iconic themed Christmas card. Waiting until the afternoon to ask the kids to cooperate was quick reason to change my thoughts on that little photographic Christmas greeting. However, I still love this picture in many ways!

A late lunch at Golden Corral (birthday boy’s choice) means a fair share of sugar is inhaled. No birthday cake or ice cream tonight! Michael was very gracious to continue delivering sweets to the table. His sister didn’t object to eating the frosting off the top of the cupcake. She’s not much for cake, none of us are really.

Thank God for Pinterest and an early morning find. Grana & Anna were able to construct this banner while we were downtown. He has a small sleepover planned for Saturday night with his buddy. Minecraft will be the theme for sure!

It’s hard to believe our little man is SEVEN already. I love you buddy.
