Wildlife comes to our backyard

October 3, 2013

Monica was here to school today and they were gifted the opportunity to have found a baby squirrel in their backyard who was presumably seeking refuge of the human kind. He ran up the leg of one of the boys and was promptly “adopted”. It was an on-going, all day conversation between the kids. They begged and cajoled enough that I gave in…sure we’ll go see the squirrel.

Well as luck would have it, the squirrel actually came to us.

Katie was so in love with this little guy.

She was so happy that he ate the sliced almond she offered him.

Sweet little thing though was clearly suffering the effects of being in captivity. Hoping he lives through the night and can get to the wildlife rehabilitation shelter in the morning. He’s uninjured but clearly abandoned.

Awe..I hope he gets to the shelter soon as well. We learned the hard way with our abandoned Canadian goose. We found out after it died how much they do to keep them alive. We should’ve taken it sooner!!! Glad you got such great photos!! So cute!! xoxo
