It’s a pool kind of day

June 12, 2013

The day started with swim lessons graciously taught by a fellow homeschooling mom. I’m forever grateful for the opportunity and the gift of her time and talents.

Katie & Michael of course “fought” over the goggles as they were both worried about opening their eyes in the chlorine water. Our pool is salt water and apparently easier on the eyes. If only the little sister hadn’t gotten lost in delivering the new goggles to Katie upstairs. Oh where or where did she put them last week before reaching Katie at the top of the stairs?

The kids are “fine” swimmers, but lack all sense of finesse and efficiency in their stroke/kick combinations. I’m happy to give them the chance to learn under someone else’s eye and expertise.

We managed to clean out the van (and vacuum even), drop off the library books, sneak home to gather the pool gear and have a quick bite to eat before meeting our dear friends at our pool. For the next 3 hours, it was all about friends and pool play. Thankfully, our pool is big. I only wish there was a “kiddie” pool – a place for the little ones to play without the fear of drowning. You know it is a real fear of mine. Yes. I have had my first drowning nightmare already this year. It happens when I’m pregnant and at the start of summer. Uggh.

However, a friend and mom of 6, said she always bring her infants to the pool with the bathtub in tow. Why on earth have I never thought of this? It’s the perfect solution to keep the littlest ones cool while the big kids play. Awesome!

The pool was really meant for Elizabeth, but it seems those much bigger than herself enjoyed it too.

Michael loves Jessica and she’s so great to play with them. These memories are ones they will keep with them forever. It makes me so happy!

Gianna loves Clare and takes such good care of her! In fact, this morning, Clare got to spend some one-on-one time with Gianna at her house. It was so sweet!

Sadly, Clare doesn’t really love the pool. I thought a new suit with built-in floaties would make her feel more secure, but it actually keeps flipping her onto her back. It’s not the same effect compared to the one that Katie had at this age. I only wish she could wear that one. Guess I’ll keep looking for a good alternative. She was more content to sit on the side with her feet in the water.

Michael only wishes that he was faster in the water and better able to play Marco Polo with the big kids. It was sweet to hear Clare echo the “Marco! Polo!” as the kids played this classic water game. Love your look buddy! Green is definitely your color!

Elizabeth might be #4 but I’m determined to fill her baby book with lots of photos also! It’s only fair, right?!

She loves her Godmom (and I LOVE this photo of their playtime this afternoon). Elizabeth is at that fantastic infant stage where she smiles and laughs with the tiniest bit of attention. She is so aware of everything and crazy strong too! I love this sweet little baby girl!

Happy summer all! More posts to come as I just realized there are posts in the que that I never finished or posted. Bummer. Oh well. More to come I guess.
