Hen Party

May 1, 2013

Friends

The gift of friendship is a powerful thing. Once a month five of us get together to enjoy one another’s company. We are longtime friends…going back as much as 10+ years for some of us. We share a common bond…Catholicism. Oh how we laugh! It’s so rejuvenating to share memories of younger years and the wisdom that comes with age. We are so very different bringing to the table many varied perspectives.

They arrived this month bearing gifts and a birthday cake with candles. These women are fantastic at the details of life…the things that mean something – simple things. What a beautiful lifting of the spirit to celebrate life and friendship. That’s what a good friend is all about, right?! We are called to support one another, to share our talents, and our hearts in profound ways. This week we did that. We connected with one another. Piled onto the couch, we reached to the depths of humanity and loved.

I treasure these moments. I appreciate sitting in my house with candles lit, knowing the babes are quiet upstairs and the older ones will peek down just long enough to kiss me goodnight and say a quick hello. For one night each month, the only noise is the harmony of our adult female voices. In the days to follow, I think back to our conversations and the spoken and unspoken intentions of each other’s hearts. The gift of being able to offer a prayer for another person is the essence of spiritual love. I’m honored to spend my week remembering these four other women.

I love you gals and I can’t wait for next month’s hen party! Thank you for sharing your love!
