Reciprocal memberships make me happy!

June 21, 2012

This morning was simply hanging out in the hotel. Playing games in the lobby, watching movies (updating blog and editing photos), and a picnic lunch in the square outside our hotel.

Playing after breakfast while the boys continued to sleep in the room.

They were so sneaky and scared Uncle Andy. Look at the expression on Michael’s face…he can hardly contain his excitement.

We are staying on the side of the mountain that doesn’t look like this.

However, the museum was surrounded by these buildings. Interesting how a downtown’s renovation can be so overlooked. It seems as though buildings go here to die. High crime for sure! For this suburban mom, I was sure glad that I hadn’t taken the kids to the museum alone.

With that being said, The McWane Science Center was fantastic! We spent almost 4 straight hours playing among their four exhibit floors.

There was the bed of nails and an explanation of how an elephant’s feet distributes its enormous weight proportionately to its body.

Of course, there were pulleys.

Michael & Andy weren’t a match for Katie’s more efficient pulley.

How fast can you pedal? (You can’t see Michael behind the girl’s head, but he was actually racing Andy in this game.) Poor Mikey….extinct.

This was Clare’s first museum adventure that was interactive for her. She played HARD today.

The girl LOVES to climb. These “pillows” were right up her alley for 30 minutes in fact.

The kids and Uncle Andy (along with another boy) used every block in this area to build an amazing fort.

They even built a hot tub in the center of the fort. Michael even added bubbles.

The museum’s special exhibit from May – September is “Dora and Diego”. It was a perfect exhibit for Clare.

Estrellas.

You gotta love the purple planet.

While I was exploring “Just Mice Size” with Clare, the kids and Andy discovered the bubbles. Not having had enough time earlier in the afternoon, we spent the last 30 minutes playing with bubbles. I think we need to make these bubbles once we get home.

Tomorrow…swimming with the kids in the morning, checking out of the room, shopping in the square (since we didn’t make it today), and then maybe the zoo before picking Andy up at work and going to dinner. I am so appreciative that Andy doesn’t mind driving and we can leave after dinner. Hopefully, we’ll make it to Chuy’s before it gets too busy.
