Summertime play…

March 30, 2012

It might have felt like summertime, but tonight’s play was really some spring break playin’. Our new friends met us at the park where we played, had a picnic, and played some more…for almost 3 hours. Thankfully, my dear hubby brought the food and some great toys from home. Interesting, how a bunch of girls can get bored at a playground. A bunch of boys (my Mikey included), played several weeks ago for hours and never once thought to do anything else. Regardless, we love our new friends and had a great Friday evening.

Yep. You counted right. That’s 8 water bottles for 8 children…8 children in our care until tomorrow! We can do this! We’re off to a great start!

Okay, so dinner with 8 might need some practice. However, so many manners and such patience from these kids! They even remembered to say their meal prayers in the midst of just a tad bit of chaos. However, I think everyone actually ate their PBJ…yep picnics in Lent aren’t that great!

These older girls are Clare’s best mommy-in-training. She is constantly doted on by someone! Such a tired girl though!!

So you might be wondering how I found time to blog today (after such a long hiatus). Well, actually, it’s all being done at 10:30 p.m. tonight as I wait for the youngest of these 8 to actually fall asleep. The lights are out (except for this dimmed computer) and I’m the ‘little old young woman whispering “hush”‘ from the corner rocking chair. Why is it that the littlest are always the ones that fight sleep the hardest? (BTW…seven children on one floor and two couches really can be pretty quiet as they settle themselves into sleep. Impressive, really! I think there’s some good parenting going on in these families. Kudos to you Andrea & Joe. We’re happy to have your children!)

Goodnight!
