Our Week…ordinary happenings

March 16, 2012

On second thought…maybe the ordinary is really indeed extraordinary. Explanations? Who needs explanations? (Maybe I’ll post more on this later this weekend!)

bathtumb

All things are reason to break from school these days. Admittedly, it’s spring and we are all a bit “over” the school schedule. What shall we do now? I know…draw in the bathtub with dry erase markers.

chantz our guest

Katie is the perfect hostess…greeting guests with chocolate and a handwritten note. I love this about her. She has never met a stranger for sure.

Reading her passion, therefore, she assumes everyone loves it. Poor Chantz, had not slept well the night prior. Storytime was the perfect occasion for a nap. Aunt Sherry, did you read him to sleep as a child?

Oh yes, opened up the world of Pinterest to Aunt Sherry when we were there at Christmas. This weekend, we introduced her to the joys of Skype. Skype on the smartphones. Skype on the computer. Skype on the ipad. Yes, we are often found online. I love that it brings the family closer as everyone lives 1000 miles away or more. Thank God for the internet AND free video calling.

clare love

Trying to get dinner on the table Friday night for 6 adults, meant Clare got a bath in the sink in between stirring pots and hot food on the stove. The kids have all had this experience, but admittedly, Clare get fewer baths (anywhere) than the others and I was concerned about their lack of hygiene. YIKES. Sweet Clare!

Aunt Jenny got a little snuggle time with this tired little baby! Chantz continues to entertain this girl. Although, incredibly attached to me these days, she loved playing with Chantz and he was quick to shower attention upon her!

cabbagepatch

Katie was determined late in the week to play with toys that have been “forgotten” lately. Cabbage Patch was a nice addition to our tabletops this week. It’s a reminder of days gone by…a time in Katie’s life when she played more with little dolls and figures than reading or writing or computer time.

cake decorating

Katie has been determined to earn her American Heritage Girls (AHG) badges before the end of this year. Although, cake decorating is a common occurrence throughout the year, and she’s frequently a guest in the kitchen, we have been more intentional about creating NEW opportunities to sign off on badge work. Cake Decorating…done!

alaska

Ever seen a cat that didn’t love laying in the sun? Me neither. Alaska is getting so big!
