Day 266/365

September 23, 2010

Yesterday Katie was lamenting that everyone had a more fun life than her. Afterall, she didn't do anything but school and see her own house. Well then. I couldn't possibly have any of that so I declared school down at the lake today. Not surprising, I didn't get any whining about the plan.

All loaded up, each with their own backpack of goodies, and a short walk through the neighborhood to the community lake and school can begin.

Michael insisted on "hiding" his work so that it would be a surprise to me when he was finished.

The many ways we learn....

Love how he smiles with his eyes.

...and her pretty blue eyes are second to none.

Just a little review and a more comfortable posture. How many of you did school in this position?

Storytime on the swing nearby.

Michael's view...he made so many trips down to the lake during our school day today. Who could object? I am a firm believer that boys need movement breaks in order to keep their brains engaged.

LOVE this tea. Love that it was almost cool enough outside to consider it a "fall" treat on our morning walk to the lake.

Just consider it my schoolwork in between instructing the kids.

After lessons today, the kids were delighted to take a dip in the pool just a few yards away from our classroom. The calendar might say fall, but here in Atlanta, the temperatures are still in the low 90s. We are thrilled the pool is still open!

She thought the water was a bit colder than it had been recently.

Today’s classroom. BTW, in this picture, Michael is reading his first book!
