Day 251/365 – Happy Birthday Mother Mary!

September 8, 2010

Birthday celebrations (even those in heaven) are meant to be celebrated with cake and ice cream. Well, we did our best. We had very overpriced but incredibly yummy cupcakes and cakes from a pastry cafe near downtown. Oh my goodness! Keep reading. You'll be ordering yours tomorrow!

Katie's Chocolate Mousse Cake: Hazelnut cookie bottom, chocolate truffle mousse, chocolate buttermilk cake, chocolate ganache

She must have enjoyed it. Cake, even the best gourmet kind, surely must be eaten with a bit smeared on the face for a full sensory experience.

Michael's Strawberry Pop Tart: Strawberry cake, strawberry glaze, strawberry buttercream

Peanut Butter & Jelly : Peanut butter cake, concord grape jelly filling, crunchy peanut butter buttercream & Red Velvet: Moist classic red velvet cake, cream cheese icing (Nate delcared the PB&J to be the best cupcake ever eaten.)

All the choices, and I went with the cheesecake. I wasn't disappointed!!!

Took the Chocolate Fudge cupcake: Molten chocolate cake, fudge center, chocolate ganache & the Pink Lemonade cupcake: Lemon chiffon cake, lemon curd filling, pink lemonade glaze, white chocolate buttercream rosette to my sisters on our way home. I hear they were quite pleased with the surprise.

A trip by Jen's salon to deliver the cupcakes, a trim for Michael and some unexpected snuggles with baby Julius too!

But before the evening festivities, naps were declared for both KT & Michael. KT has a certain demand to have it dark when she sleeps. The solution: Sleep in the master closet where there are no windows or light streaming in. Despite the picture, she was convinced she hadn't really slept! Glad though that she put her American Girl doll to bed also. Notice the book light and the choice of books too.

Dinner at Little Azio in midtown before heading to dessert. We have come to play our dice game at least once a week while lingering over a meal here and there. Love that $5 treasure that's just the right size to carry constantly in my purse for those game playing, spur of the moment occasions!

The morning began with leaving the house at 5:40 a.m. to drive Nate to the bus stop and then on to Mass for us. What a great way to celebrate the feast! A trip to the park afterward sealed the great beginning to our day. School followed, lunch & naps for the kids. What a treasure to have complete silence for a little more than an hour this afternoon! Dinner & dessert, thanks to several coupons and “deals”, cost us out of pocket only $15! What a great feast!! Happy birthday Mother Mary. Pray for us!!!
