Election 2008

November 5, 2008

Okay, so in an attempt to not be totally glued to the TV last night, I made this page. Be sure to read the (recount) conversation I had with Katie on the way to school this afternoon. (It’s below the picture.)

On our way to school this afternoon, I asked Katie if Daddy had told her who our next President was goign to be. No.

“His name is Mr. Barack Obama.” and I waited. She asked (as the wheels were turning in her head), “Is he the good guy, Mommy?” I said, “Well, Katie, he isn’t the man mom & dad voted for. We hoped Mr. John McCain would win.” and I waited. The wheels continued to turn and then in the rearview mirror I could see her face turn downcast and she said, “Mommy. I should have worn my badge (they had made a USA badge in art class yesterday) all night on my PJs.” “Why Katie?” I asked. “Mommy. I didn’t wear it all night and he didn’t win. We prayed that he would win and my badge was supposed to remind me to pray for God to protect our country.” OH MY!!!! I quickly assured her that she wasn’t personally responsible for McCain losing and that we just needed to pray for Mr. Obama to make good decisions and to listen to God more. Her response, “Mom, but does he do some good things?” “Probably, Katie.” Her final response, “Mom. I’ll pray that he does good things like us.”

Gotta love that kid!
