Happy 10th Birthday baby girl
And she’s now in double digits. Golly these past 10 years have gone fast. How did we celebrate such an occasion…the first in our house? It was filled with annual birthday & fall traditions and a whole lot of surprise fun!
Early morning ice cream before 7:50 a.m. Mass at Pinecrest. This momma can make a killer shake-vanilla ice cream and chocolate peanut butter cookie dough.
A present or two after Mass & breakfast. (Thanks Aunt Sherry for the new hat. She loves hats and they look so cute on her!)
Following Mass, a personal birthday blessing from Fr. Robert and breakfast at home, we headed to the North Georgia mountains for some apple picking. It’s really just their way of getting to climb trees…a favorite past-time for both of our big kids.
So after going to this same orchard for a number of years, I think I was a little “bored” with the same shots and feeling somewhat uncreative. So…I took to photographing the wildflowers growing among the trees.
Lunch is always the birthday kids/adults choice…Golden Corral has become her birthday go-to place. Gotta love that dessert bar and the freedom to decide what you are going to eat. “Just don’t get sick. Be smart about your choices.” However, there is indeed some serious indulging for sure! Once a year? Go for it!
That night, Katie decided to go to the Pinecrest Powder Puff game. Sounds like Nate & Katie had a great time and how fun to see Jessica playing for the Junior team. Katie can’t stop talking about the funny cheerleaders! Hilarious I guess. I am not sure if she liked more the game itself, the friends she saw, the entertainment of the cheerleaders, or the fact that she stayed up incredibly late! At any rate, she has asked if she can go ever year! Not a bad way to spend your birthday night I guess. Daddy even remembered to wish her a happy birthday at her birth time. (Jessica is on the back right in this photo.)
Saturday she participated in a flag ceremony with her AHG troop and then spent the day with her friend Mercedes. The real plan was to get her out of the house so we could set up for her surprise party celebration. Thank God for friends and family to help pull it all together. Why is it that there always seems to be so much time and then you still feel rushed? Thank you to my husband, Anna and the Satriano clan for helping me here at home and Stacey for entertaining Katie. Thank you also to Rebecca for watching Elizabeth and the Russos for taking Clare during the party, and Gianna & Bridgid for being my “right-hands” during the party. All great things are nearly impossible without friends to help. Thank you to all who kept the secret!! You did great work!
The decorations are ready and just waiting for the birthday girl!
Nate crafted the most amazing and simple wooden frame to act as our backdrop for the photobooth and dance party. Thanks to Goodwill for the two $5 blue panels and Katie’s windows and the Satriano’s playroom for the pink panels, this project was a bargain!! I’m so thankful for Nate’s skill and willingness to do it. It was totally awesome!!!!
All of her guests have arrived!
Finally, Anna delivered her to the house.
She was indeed surprised and a little shocked! Listen to our melancholy girl’s reaction.
It’s time for a party!!
Friends for 10 years almost!! We love you Mercedes!!
Pizza & drinks.
Cake & Ice Cream!
During the celebrations, Grana & Papa arrived from their 3-day drive from Wyoming. Yippee!!! They have arrived!
3 generations of girls!
How do you end such a grand celebration? Well, you circle the chairs under the black sky and colored lights, and you enjoy the company of beloved family and friends. (And you also get some time with the babies and Michael who weren’t around for most of the party.)
