Back to School
I can’t believe we’ve already finished 12 days of school. It’s really gone by so very quickly. Actually, we started two days earlier than our cyber school required. Oh well. Although, this year I had intended to wait and not school early, we were apparently destined to do so if even only unintentionally.
Katie is officially a fifth grader. Is it really possible?
I am so thankful for this little stroke of mommy/teacher genius. The kids’ received duct tape for decorating their supply box and tape for their supplies. Their supplies were all marked with their own tape. If I find them laying about, they must run the stairs three times for every item found. Needless to say, I was “over” missing supplies. Thankfully, the kids have only had to run a few times.
Katie’s 5th grade teacher seems to be a gem. After last year’s struggles with her teacher, it’s wonderful to have Mrs. Wheeler, who is prompt, efficient, and thorough. She’s encouraging and wise. I’m thankful to have her at Katie’s “helm” this year.
Her meet ‘n greet was at the Bounce House…a perfect place for pre-teens to play (and siblings also).
Katie has a friend who is schooling here on Monday and Wednesdays this year. It’s an interesting dynamic having two pre-teens in the house. It’ll be great memories for all of us and an opportunity to get to know her again after so many years apart. Katie did co-op with her their kindergarten/first grade years.
Michael is schooling 2nd grade this year.
Michael’s teacher, Mrs. Warbington, has a great deal of experience and a personal love for early elementary school. We were able to meet her at “Popsicles in the Park” this afternoon. I’m very happy at the prospects of working with her this school term, and am thankful Michael has been assigned to her.
Clare even received her own set of supplies. Afterall, this two-year-old needs to be working also.
Michael has started taking a Lego Engineering course on Tuesday afternoons. (More pictures and video in another post.) This means us girls have some time to kill…Burger King has a play place and ice cold frozen drinks; not a bad hour!
Here’s to the hope of a great year with my gang.
